As part of Holocaust Remembrance Week, our 8th grade students participated in The Butterfly Project, inspired by the poem “The Butterfly” written by a young prisoner at the Terezín concentration camp. Butterflies symbolize the beauty, fragility, and resilience of life, and each one created honors a child of the Holocaust whose life was taken too soon. 🦋

Wall ISD will cancel school on Tuesday (Jan 27) due to potentially hazardous road conditions, cold temperatures, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff. Classes will resume on Wednesday.

Our WHS advanced science classes were able to travel to Seaworld and Texas Biomedical Research Center in San Antonio thanks to the Wall Education Foundation!
Students received a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the aquatic animal habitats and learned about the care of the animals on site. They were also treated to a CRISPR presentation at the research center and conducted a lab testing their own genes to see whether they are genetically morning people or night owls! 🐬🧬

This week, Wall is hosting our annual JH basketball tournament. Games will be in all four gyms after school on Thursday and all day on Saturday.!
The proceeds from the tournament benefit ALL of Wall’s athletes, so please work a shift, bring something for the hospitality rooms, and come watch some basketball!

In science class, they created their own light shows by writing code to sync their lights to the beat of a song of their choice. Mrs. Gibson and her scientists did a fantastic job—what a fun way to start off the semester! 💡🎶
