Members of our High School Band competed this Saturday at Angelo State University in the Region 6 Solo & Ensemble Contest—and every group earned a 1st Division (Superior) rating! ⭐These outstanding musicians have advanced to the State Solo & Ensemble Contest in late May!

Our 4th graders had a fun-filled trip to the San Angelo Symphony at Murphey Performance Hall 🎼, then cooled off with Kona Ice at the park 🍧!

📌This Week Across Wall ISD:

Our WHS chemists used mole calculations to measure just the right amounts of magnesium, iron, and barium to create a variety of colors and sparks. They mixed the metals with a cornstarch slurry, formed a paste on rods, and let them dry to make homemade sparklers—just like the ones used on the Fourth of July! 🎆

The students were amazed at how well they worked. Chemistry has never been this bright! ✨

Students in Mrs. Branch’s biology classes conducted a gel electrophoresis lab this week. 🧬 Students learned about this biotechnology, how to use a micropipette, and how to read a DNA fingerprint from the procedure. Using the DNA fingerprint, students were able to determine paternity in a simulated scenario where scientists were trying to identify the father of a baby whale! 🐋🔬✨

We have a celebrity in our midst! 🌟 Mrs. Allison Hoelscher made her TV debut on The Price Is Right in January—and won a trip to Finland! From the classroom to the world stage, she’s officially living her best life. Way to go, Mrs. Hoelscher!

Varsity basketball games against Sweetwater have been rescheduled for Monday, Feb 2. Times TBD. Friday's games at Grape Creek will be played as scheduled.

As part of Holocaust Remembrance Week, our 8th grade students participated in The Butterfly Project, inspired by the poem “The Butterfly” written by a young prisoner at the Terezín concentration camp. Butterflies symbolize the beauty, fragility, and resilience of life, and each one created honors a child of the Holocaust whose life was taken too soon. 🦋

‼️ Due to continued hazardous road conditions, Bus Route 11 serving the Mereta area will not run tomorrow morning. Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize safety!

Wall ISD will resume classes tomorrow, January 28, with a 10:00 a.m. delayed start to allow additional time for road conditions to improve and ensure safe travel for students and staff.

Wall ISD will cancel school on Tuesday (Jan 27) due to potentially hazardous road conditions, cold temperatures, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff. Classes will resume on Wednesday.

Our WHS advanced science classes were able to travel to Seaworld and Texas Biomedical Research Center in San Antonio thanks to the Wall Education Foundation! Students received a “behind-the-scenes” tour of the aquatic animal habitats and learned about the care of the animals on site. They were also treated to a CRISPR presentation at the research center and conducted a lab testing their own genes to see whether they are genetically morning people or night owls! 🐬🧬

Due to the possiblility of winter weather expected this weekend the Visual Arts Scholastic Showcase to celebrate our incredible students’ artwork has been moved to Sunday, February 1st 3-5.

📚💬 Teamwork in action! Our 7th graders are diving into argumentative writing—partnering up, selecting topics from a bank of Scholastic articles, and putting their evidence to work in their essays. We’re excited to see their ideas and debates come to life!
